What size speakers fit in a 124?
Hey guys,
I've searched and searched and haven't found a specific answer. Maybe there isn't one. I'm replacing the rear speakers and need to find out the dimensions before I can evaluate the replacements. I need something that will have decent bass because I'm not ready to do the sub thing yet. I've got an Alpine 7478 head unit with 4x50W. I've already put Sony X-Plod 1321's? in my dash and am pleased with the results. I know the Rainbow's will fit but I'm not ready to drop that much $$. So, what size do I need? 4's, 5.25's or can I actully find some 6's that'll fit. Oh, yeah, I don't want to cut anything. Strictly stock. Thanks, Munsey

They are an odd size. Try http://www.peachparts.com/Wikka/W124Stereo . The front speakers are 4 5/8" (120 mm), the rear are 5 1/8 (127 mm. If you don't want any cutting or messing around, Diamond audio has some 4 1/2 two way coaxials that can be bi-amped, and fit the opening without too much problem. Scott at La Jolla Audio can get premium Rainbow European speakers that are a direct replacement and snap into the original holes.
