Radio writing "WAIT"

Can anybody help to resolve the issue of my radio on my ML 320 1999 model.
The radio has been writing Wait for over two weeks now after I have switch on the ignition to 2 for over 2hrs and I drive 3 - 5hrs a day non stop but the code option will not display.

Usually means the wrong code has been entered too many times. You may need to visit the dealer to have the radio reset.

The dealer can't reset a locked up radio. Try removing (hard reset) the radio for a few minutes and see if it goes back to CODE when it's re-connected........

I thought I read somewhere on these older Beckers that the WAIT meant you had to power up for 24 hours continuously. You may be able to pull it and send it in to Becker in NJ and see if they can get it to reset.

Alternatively you could try pulling it and bench powering it up for 24 hours, if that gets you back to Code, then you should be able to get the code from the dealer if you can prove you own the car.
