Angry 84 300TD wagon sound

I just put in a new Blaupunkt Santa Fe cd head unit, and 4 new speakers (Boston Acoustic and JBL) in the factory openings in dash and in ceiling in way back. With such tiny speakers, and the fader switch in the console, it seems pretty weak. Would removing the fader help take advantage of the head unit output, or do I need to add an amp? I am better at mechanical issues than electric/sound system ones.... but it needs more aural oomph, for sure. Any advice appreciated.

Personally I owuld bypass the fader switch. It should sound better with just the radio wired direct tot he speakers.
