W124 ('94 E320) Speaker Wiring

Hi,
I'm replacing the dash speakers in my '94 E320 sedan and I've got a question about the wiring. The speaker has two sets of wires coming off of it. Checking movement of the speaker cone with a battery, both of them appear to be hooked up as if this is a dual voice coil speaker.
My question is how I should wire up the replacements. Should I use just one of the sets of wire? Is anyone familiar with this. I've attached a picture.
Thanks in advance for the help.
---Gary

you're in luck my friend!

i also have 94 E320! & i just replaced my front dash speakers with some new infinity ones just 3 days ago! the right speaker is different from the left one. the one on the right is simple. just use the only set there. the one on the left has two sets. one that attaches to that black rectangular euro plug. don't use that one. use the wires that run to the the other tubular-like plug, similar to the one on the right speaker.

the two sets of wires that run from the dash to the left speaker look very different. one looks just like the one on the right speaker, and the other set is very thin. ignore the thin set.

hope i was clear in the explanation!

thanks for the explanation and another question

jmagbita,
Thanks for the quick response and accurate answer. You are right, the picture is the left dash speaker and I have not yet taken out the right speaker. I guess I should have done a bit more work before asking the board.

Your response is clear and was similar to what I thought I should do based on pictures I've seen of replacement speakers such as the Rainbow brand. They only have wires that hook up to the tubular connector.

Does anyone know what the 2nd set of wires is used for on the left dash speaker? Just curious.

Thanks again.

Thanks for this thread! I had replaced my front speakers and I saw the additional connector and wondered what it was for.

e320 dash speaker size

Can someone tell me the size speaker that goes in the dash of the 1995 E320 cabriolet? Is it a 3.5" or a 4"?
Thanks in advance,
Brian J

It is a 5 inch speaker an odd ball size, but I sell the rainbow speakers that drop directly into the opening. If you are interested let me know.

95 MB e320 cabriolet

I'm trying to replace the driver-side dashboard speaker. I've got the grill off but I can't loosen the speaker from the housing. I read somewhere it is held by sprin-loaded clips. Do you disengage from the top or from under the dash?
