S320 1994 Bose System question
My S320 bought secondhand came with a standard Blaupunkt. Just swopped it for the Blau MP72. I wondered how the speaker outputs to the Bose Amp are handled. I assumed from previous installations that the speaker outputs from the H/U are low level preouts but this does not appear to be the case on this install. Does the Bose amp handle the inputs differently. The sound is fine but from reading previous posts I thought a special H/U was needed. Was there any special adaptors used between the H/U and the Bose amp to allow for this. Don't like to mess around until I am sure

The bose radio is high level but it is @ 20 watts x 4 so I use a soundgate adapter that drops the output of the new radio to match the stock input requirements so it won't distort and it will allow a more linear adjustment on the volume of the new radio. There is an harness adapter that will allow the connection of the new radio without cutting the stock harness off. By the way the stock radios either a becker or alpine not blaupunkt. (the blaupunkt should plugin to the stock harness).

Thanks Scott. I assume from this that the output from the stock H/U is of preout type. Does the Bose amp use standard RCA connections or are they proprietry connections. The Bose setup facinates me as I am wondering how 11 speakers are run thru the amplifier.

The factory radio's output is speaker level not pre amp level but it is lower than the output of all of the new radios. 20 watts x4 is the output of the stock radio.
