92 300E Becker radio not tuning correctly
The original Becker radio in my 92 300E is not tuning well. Most times I turn it on, I get no radio at all. Sometime, it will play the radio, but not change stations. If I press a different station button, the numbers change in the face display, but the audio does not change. If the radio is working, sometimes I can change stations by pressing the button for the station I want, shutting off the radio, wait a few seconds, then turn it on again. Then it comes on tuned to the new station.
The tape player works fine. Amps and speakers are fine. I assume I will have to pull out the radio and send it to Becker. Since this is the 2-piece radio and the tuner is actually in the trunk, anyone know if the likely failure is in the tuner in the trunk? or do I need to pull out the head unit as well? Anyone have experience with a similar problem? Thanks!

Tuning Problems
Hi David,
I believe the problem is in the Tuner pack in the trunk of your car however, since you will be without a radio anyway I might suggest that you send both the Head unit and the Tuner pack just to be safe. I will gladly check the two items and confirm the defective part for you. That way you will only have to pay for the broken item not both. Of course both items being defective is rare but not impossible. For further help please contact me at ljrepair@pacbell.net or call me at (858) 373-0596.
