Wink Here's What I did...

Bought Infinity 3.5" for the Front (They fit in Original holes)...But not much bass...

I got Infinity 60.5" (separate 6.5" woofer & tweeter). I mounted the Woofers on 3/4" MDF and Screwed into rear deck allowing the middle to be where original speakers were. The tweeters are mounted Below the Grill. (I got the speakers on EBAY for $149! They cost $299 in Crutchfield!)
Here they are:

http://www.infinityspeakers.com/caraudio/product.asp?ProdId='REF3052CF'&Ser=REF&Cat=MEL

ALL LOOKS Original and sounds GREAT!

Oh I also put in PEH-3500 (Pioneer CD with External CD Changer)...This deck has a feature that allows MOST of the bass to come from REAR which is necessary with the small speakers in the front. (Although Bass Blockers would work too!)

It sounds INCREDIBLY clean!

the 4x6 plate speakers i am using are decent (infinity). they aren't the same as component tho, component speakers have cross overs which are a bit more sophisticated than the capacitors on the plate speakers. my rears are 5.25 infinity coaxials whicha re not mounted down yet, they just sit there, i still need to fabricate a mounting plate. i think if i trim enough the 5.25 will fit. all powered by a clarion autopc 310C (well i am installing it now)

i am hesitant to install a 6x9 in the rear deck because i might fabricate a box for 2 8's or some JL 6w0 6.5 inch subs. or if i don't get bored 2 12's in the trunk.

roberth58: i might be totally wrong because i think i saw it somewhere but then againi have not seen it in person. the newer mounting brackets will not fit the older style. i remember seeing from somewhere that they tilt in a bit and the grill has 2 sides to it (making like a 45 angle) and as you know the older ones point straight up. but i am sure with some fabrications you can make them to fit.

Ned, dont want to try and use the newer style speaker covers on an older model, I want to replace the whole parcel shelf and am trying to find out if it will fit an older 126.
