Question SLK Sound System

Hello -

I just got a '99 SLK 230 K, and realized that due to factory Bose system and wirings, the audio upgrade may not be as easy as I hoped. (I wanted to use a Panasonic CD headunit that I pulled out from my last car - a Volkswagen - but I guess I have to give up on that. . . )

Currently I just have a factory cassette player, and would like to install a CD changer, since that seems like the only choice I have. I am thinking of getting Mercedes Fiber Optics unit (expensive. . .) or the Alpine unit (w/ Adapter) or one of those USA Spec. ones.

Are they the only choice I have in adding a CD player to my car ? I am trying to avoid CD changer via FM modulator because I am not too confident of their sound quality.

Is there anyway I can use my Panasonic headunit, and maybe use the existing Bose amplifier and speakers ?

Thanks in advance !
