Installing Becker 1492 in '92 300E
The '92 has the 1432 head unit.
I took it out, and install the 1492. I got the power working, but dunno how to wire the speakers. Anybody has the 8 pin round connector wiring diagram? And how do I connect the remote turn on lead? I got the antenna and illumination already. Thank you for your help. |

It ain't that easy. You will need to run your speaker lines 4 pair from the new radio to the rear of the car and wire past the stock amps/ tuner. You will also need to run aa antenna coax cable to the rear also.

I have been reading about your post in the past. Thank you it's always valuable. The questions are there is no way to use the current amplifier in the car? and do you think the 1492 unit can power all the speakers in the car? I believe the 300E has the premium sound. |

There is a way to use the 1492 and the stock amps. If you use a soundgate oem 2 or a 4a for adjustability you can then use the stock amps to work with your newer radio. You can also get to inputs to the amps at the fader in the console. Powering all the speakers with the 1492 is probably not a good idea as it has limited power and in the 1994 e cars they use a booster just to power the door woofers. Keep in mind when you get done you need to check ouhttp://www.soundgate.com/products/factory/oem.htmt the rainbow dash speakers for your 124....

I was wondering what the difference is between the 1432 and the 1492. Does anyone have pictures of both?
Thanks,

1492 and 1692 look like this:
I think the 1432 looks like this (but I'm not 100%):

Thanks Willy. Is there a non-visual difference between the 1492 and 1692?
I think your second image looks similar to a 1480 (used in 1990). It doesn't have the Mode button, so is not capable of controlling a CD like the 1432. I've attached pictures of my 1990 BE1480 and 1992 BE1432 (with the Mode button). 1480: ![]() 1432: ![]()

I emailed Horst Becker with this exact question some time ago. He assured me that the only difference is the look of the buttons.
