Is this unit compatible?

Found this on eBay

Mercedes Benz BECKER Special BE 2210

Will this work in a '95 or '96 E-Class and does anyone know how good it's quality is?

Thanks,

My guess is YES.. but I'd wait for a second opinion. Has the DIN ISO plug in the back similar to all 94-97 vehicles.

Quality? Not sure. What's wrong with your radio?

Nothing's wrong with mine. However, my Dad has a '95 E300 and would like the OEM deck put back in. I was thinking of buying this unit and taking the Alpine unit he has and maybe putting it in my '96 E300. I sold him the '95 and now he wants a tape deck instead of CD. He likes books on tape.

I'm not sure about putting the Alpine in mine, though. It's a clean looking unit (CDA-7892) but I have this "thing" about putting an aftermarket stereo in a $40,000 car. Why the hell didn't Mercedes use quality stereo equipment when they built these things? Anyway, I may go ahead and make the swap and then a few years from now, have a command unit installed. I think I saw a thread on this site where a guy in Cali has done some retro fits in older E's.

I'm sure that's more than you wanted to know...but I had some time.

If your dad's is a 95, don't you mean E320? I think the BE 1492 or 1692 is what it came with. They are basically the same units... just very slight differences in the buttons... I think one is rounder on the corners. I think the BE 2210 is probably the same as well, but you may want to do a search here and at www.beckerautosound.com.

Thanks for the link I'll check that out. I had forgotten they had a website.

And, yes, it is an E300...E300D (diesel) that is . Same as my '96...but different.
