Low-end/Subwoofer ideas
I've got an '85 300D Turbo. I've already got an Infinity 12" sub in the trunk, right under the hole from the FA kit. It's pushed by a 325W amp. The bass is a little boomy. Thusly, I'm considering these two installs to provide a little more feeling:
(A) Placing one or two 8" subs facing outward where the rear seat's armrest folds into the seat. I've seldom had people sitting back there. If they do they'll still have the armrest and I won't worry about them breaking the speakers since I'd cover them with a metal grill cover. (B) Placing tactile transducers under the front seats. I would use either Aurasound Pro bass shakers, which'll do 50W RMS/each, or a Clark Synthesis model, which'll do 100WRMS/each. Anyone try these setups and what results did you get? Thanks. Hello Tony.
Are you running the sub free-air? If you're using a box is it the correct one? Is the box bolted to the floor? What kinda box is it,sealed or ported? Are you running an EQ? The bass shakers will cost you $150,$250 with amp. And the cost of the two 8's. For that price,if you don't have a box,you can buy or have built a nice box(sealed for tight bass, ported for extra umpf) But I need more info on your system to be of most help. Louis |

Hi Louis. I went ahead and got an Infinity 12" sub with a non-ported box. I installed it right under the FA box close up against the back wall/gasstank seperator. I'm pushing about 330W to power it and it's been doing a great job. Now I'm contemplating swapping out my rear 5.25" MQuarts and installing 6x9's. A little rear-deck modifying and then with the 6x9's I'll have more mids. Right now I have 4" MBQ's up front and the 5.25MBQ's in the back and though it does sound good, there's not enough mid for me. Yeah, highs and lows are nice, but not enough gui-gui-guitar.

Hey Tony.
What about some 6.5" separates in kickpanel in you foot wells. This should give you your mids that your creaving for thus leaving the rear tray intact. Since you don't mind doing some of the work you should be able to make universal kick panels work in your car, sorry they only have them for the C series Mb(could be modefied to fit). www.qlogic.ws www crutchfield.com or your local carstereo specialty shop has them. Louis. |

I thought of that but my left foot rests on the foot rest on the firewall. I'm going to do some research about shallow 6x9, or something just a little smaller. Then I won't have to actually cut into the body, just the rear shelf board.
