				Upgrading 99 E320 Bose System

Greetings, I have a 99 E320 with the Bose Speaker system and I'm a bit confused about my upgrade options. Everyone seems to have a different take on the situation. Some say the fiber optic system will preclude me (or make it quite difficult) from upgrading. Others say with the right adapter I should be able to make it work. Is it feasible to remove the factory head and replace it with an aftermarket one? Do I need to replace the speakers and Bose amps also? Is it possible to put a flip up screen in the dash instead and leave the factory head alone? I do have the analog MB integrated phone system, but I have no problem with not using it. Its outdated and useless. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks J |

				upgrade questions

I bought my first MB yesterday, an 1999 E320. I know next to nothing about this car, or the way that it does things. My first question is about the stereo, and whether or not I can get at the phone input. I don't have a phone, but I think that there is a way to get at that input, no? If there was a way to get at that audio input, I would like to be able to hit the phone button and then hear what my mp3 player was playing, or whatever. Is this possible? Do I need to make a drive to Southern California to see the guys at La Jolla Audio? rob |
