300SD Radio Update....pics

I thought some of you might like to see this. I got the radio for $85 off ebay...cost $850 from the dealer. As was done by others, I wired the stereo into the speakers at the console mounted fader...no need for it anymore. I think it looks great in the 126. Thanks for the responses I got a few weeks back. I dont know if anyone has done this exact radio but I suspect so.

Very worth it....old radio was dead. It was not very difficult. The common grounds made it take some thinking to figure out which speaker wire was which.

How does the lighting of that head unit match up with the dash lighting at night? Have a picture?

The sound did not get much better...bass is still really weak. The radio's amps are made for speaks with 7 ohm impedance (right?) and I measured the stock speakers to be 3.5 ohms. I know this is really working the amp...when I really turn it up the stereo backlight dims with the bass beat. I want to eventually replace the old paper speakers with some aftermarket ones. I would like to use a resistor to increase the speaker impedance but I understand this adversely affects sound quality.

Looks great! Nothing beats a nice stock look without all those tacky lights and graphics.

I would have thought the amps were made for 4 ohm impedance? Most all are.

Yeah I like that radio too! Nice job!

I'm thinking of throwing in the Audio 10 into my E420. It looks almost like that but it has a slot-in CD player built into it. The problem is that I'd have to upgrade my CD-Changer to a Fiber Optic unit.
