Smile component speakers for '94 E320 4DR Sedan

im upgrading my audio system, and have found out that the size of my speakers are 5.25", but only 1.5" in depth...(www.mobiletoys.com) good website.

but my problem is, can i somehow get regular sized speakers (most are over 2" in depth) in there somehow, without them costing a fortune to get installed...

im currently checking out the MB Quart 5.25" Q Series Components (www.woofersetc.com) another great site with GREAT prices.

so, any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks guys

slim line speakers

I have a similiar problem with the shallow depth issue.

I don't have the answer but will report that Blaupunkt has a slim line of speakers that I thought might be the solution. Called the ODX652 which is a 6" model. However this model is actually thinner than their 5" model so I was looking at it. Anyway everything was moving forward till I listened to them. Sound quality was noticeable less than other normall speakers so I passed.

Perhaps all thin line speakers don't have this problem but I suspect there has to be trade offs.

I hope others have some thoughts but I'm about ready to just go with a 4" mid bass driver and forget trying to find anything larger.

how about regular speakers?

ive been too acouple local car audio shops the past few days, and was told that they can manage to squeeze in some regular speakers, i was looking at the diamond audio s series component speakers for the front.

it might be alittle extra cutting but nothin too expensive i was told.

im still not sure what size the speakers are in diameter.....but they can probably tell me once they look at it i guess

i used regular 5.25 speakers, had to cut em a little bit and cut the dash a little bit as well. total stealth install, covers fit back on with no problems.
