Oxidation

I own a maroon color '78 300d that has it's original paint. The condition of the paint is very good but I'm always fighting with a milky white cloudy finish that I'm constantly buffing out. When I do buff it out, my rags pull alot of the paint off. I then wax it again with a carabo(sp??) type wax. Is there an easier way to keep the oxidation process from happening??

You have two choices for the oxidation...Meguiar's Mirror Glaze #7 or 3M Imperial Hand Glaze. Unless your car is nearly a trailer queen I like the #7 better but both work quite well. (the 3M will be significantly more labor) Apply/remove the #7 until the removal rag no longer gets any black or paint colored residue on it. Then wax with at least one coat of Meguiar's #26 or Gold Class liquid. Keep an eye on the condition of the wax at a weekly basis. If the car sees lots of sun/UV stress then you will have to wax the horizontal surfaces more often. Once you have it cleaned of all oxidation and waxed you may only have to do a quick once over of #7/3M glaze every 6 months or so provided you keep it washed/waxed.
