Fuel, Grease and/or Oil leaks, how do you clean up the mess
Fuel, Grease and/or Oil leaks, how do you clean up the mess:
#1. Inside the car? #2. Under the hood? #3. On body panels = fenders, grill, doors and glass? #4. On the driveway, garage floor or house/garage door? #5. On your work clothing? #6. On your tool box? The opposite question is very important! This would be a NEVER do this list. What have you tried for cleaning these areas that damaged them?

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!!! When the techs' in my shop know they're gonna' make a mess they go out to the cardboard bin out back and grab a windshield box, which they then unfold and lay beneath the car. It's cleaner AND safer.

still looking for the end-all-beat-all way to remove those black diesel oil stains on the cement driveway left by my W116 before I replaced the oil filter housing gasket. Hell if I can remove 80% of them I would be happy....(or in other words reduce them by 80% in darkness)

Try the degreasers that are sold next to the floor coating, its $$, but theyre dastardly stuff (they did say mix it 2 :1... I dumped it strait and it worked GREAT)
If your going to get greasy, use some soap like a hand loation before you do so, then when u wash it comes out NICE. Crazy old mechanics tip I guess, but still works great. It feels wierd for about 5 min, then it soaks in so your all non greasy... Stuff not to do... Refrain from useing any dielectric grease on your MB tex seats when your allready lubing the tracks, its a ***** to get out... Dont sit on a spray paint can with no top either... Grey primer too on the right butt pocket, but didnt get my wallet ![]() good luck ~Nate

On the concrete I use engine degreaser. Walmart sells a foaming one under their store brand. Spray it on and leave it to soak then use a hose. Works great.

Formula 409 took out a large streak of old oil across the front of a yellow oxford shirt - no stain.

take a little bit of diesel or kerosene and just pour it right on the spot or use a spary bottle, i know from experience, it works amazing at cleaning the spot, the spot i spilled oil was better cleaned than the rest of the garage floor, the mother was happy that it was clean.

Just this last Wednesday we did an experiment in chem class on this subject. We had water, turpentine, kerosene and one other substance I can't recall, to get a dime size spot of motor oil out of a white cloth. The kero took it all out, turpentine left a slight hue of gold motor oil, water didn't touch it

For concrete oil stains: Oil-Dry
Advanced Steps: 1. Use a Heavy duty de-greaser, Scrub with a stiff brush. 2. Power wash w/water and soap. 3. Let Dry 4. Cover stain in Oil-Dry 5. IMPORTANT: Wear Eye/Breathing protection (Oil-dry has Silica, dont breathe it in. It will turn to powder in step 6) 6. Use a standard brick and grind in the oil dry in circular motion, take your time, let the weight of the brick do the job. Working to fast will lift dust into the air. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5LEEcOtFek https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AjOCd17UYU Can be found on Lowes/Walmart/Pep Boys
