Paint color question,is blue/black, code 199m

Is blue/black the same color as back opal or black pearl. My 1993 124 has this color which i thought was charcoal grey. But in the bright sun does not look grey at all, seems to have a green in it.Again the code is 199m
Thanks, hope this is not to dumb a question
Rich

If you take the paint code to an automotive paint supplier, they can check the mixing formula. It might contain green as part of the mix.

"Black Pearl" seems to be an MBUSA naming since most of the world calls it blue-black metallic (BlauSchwartz).

pearl?

Thanks, hope this is not to dumb a question

I had the same experience seeing green on my car when I first bought it.
Got it home and was asked "I thought you said it was green". After doing a
thorough exterior detailing-- (clay bar on up), the color seemed to change
entirely.

Still I wondered about this BlauSchwartz vs. black pearl. Trust me... at the
dealership this really comes off as a dumb question.
(One that I couldn't get an answer for, by the way! )

My guess is that Pearl refers not to the color but to what kind
of metallic paint it is ...like pearl or candy (kandy), etc.

I'm just theorizing of course...

Thanks for the reply's.
Yes this paint on a very sunny summer day is very green, even from a distance. But on a sunny winter day it seems charcoal and almost black at times.I owned this car since late febuary and washed it at least once a week but just noticed the green around early may.
After doing a bunch of checking on this site Black/Blue is also known as Black Pearl in the USA. This is a strange color that when it is green there is no charcoal mixed with it.But there will be charcoal in the shady part of the car.A previous Mazda RX7 I had,1985,was black with a lot of multi colored metallic, but the car was always black unless you looked into the paint and saw all the metal flake.Even then it still was black.
Love this Black/Blue color
Thanks
Rich

Being a W201 fan, 199 is notable as the exclusive color chosen for the Sport Evolution and Evolution II cars. The other unusual color . . . 702 Smoke Silver Metallic.

I think you just hit it-- environmental reflection.

Just a theory, of course.
