Coupe-style ashtray installed...much nicer

I always loved the coupe version....Well I found a practically MINT one at the junkyard the other week! Only thing was that it was off a 190E and the wood was very WIDE. Just shaved off the sides to trim it down to the w124 size and it worked wonderfully without any cracks! I was very pleased with the outcome.
Old:

Sooo much happier. It also compliments the shifter because its not a worn "brown" color. All I got left now is the main surrounding-shifter one. Its not too bad, but not perfect how I eventually want it. I got my car cover from EmpireCovers.com coming tomorrow so there is no reason why anything should ever fade in this wagon anymore. It should be mint condition for a long time. I'll do a review of the cover when I get it. It's supposed to be fitted and high quality. Paid $110 for it.

Sunshade. ALL THE TIME. If I am not driving the car, the sunshade is up.
I am getting a cover from EmpireCovers tomorrow too...so now the entire car will be protected when I am not driving her.

The later model W124s had these. Why is it called a "coupe style" ashtray?

Nice find, definitely.

Amen to that brother! Without it, expect cracked wood, faded hardened leather, dash cracks, all of that.

I can recommend the EmpireCovers. It rained pretty hard today and the car didn't have a drop of water on it under the cover. I am very happy with the purchase. It fits both my 260E and 300TE really snug no problems, and without touching the ground. It also has a 10 year warranty which is nice.

Its not as thick as I thought, but the comparison I went by was one that cost $250 that my dad has on his 74 Alfa Romeo Spider.
