Can anyone tell me how to get the headrest out of my 1982 300 TD seats? I don't see any obvious release button. Thanks for the help.

The front seats do have a release button on the back, you have to feel around for it. Tilt the headrest forward, then push that button in.

Is the release on the seat or on the headrest?

The release button is on the seat back, at least on the 124 cars. Tilt the seat back so the headrest doesn't hit the headliner. The headrest posts are longer than you might expect.
