Removing window trim glue on a w123?

What does one use to remove the glue around the windows if the vinyl trim is taken off?

I cannot think of anything, and I would like to find out what others have done in case I take this trim off my 300D.

I am not sure if I'll be removing the vinyl because only one window's trim is shrivelled. Now that the poor car cannot be garaged, as it had been, I suppose the other trim will end up shrivelled too.

Somehow I think I'd prefer to see the pretty paint colour rather than more palomino (since I don't like tan very well) and that it would lighten things up a little visually. Then again it seems a shame to tear off a trim piece that is in good shape.
