Mobile detailer... they burned the clearcoat!

I guess I've learned a lesson.

I had a mobile detailer come and clean/polish the car up. After they were done everything looked great.

A month later, and I could see some cloudiness in the clear coat. It looks like the detailer didn't keep the polishing wheel moist when polishing the clear coat. There are a few places on the car that are really messed up (i.e. cloudy clearcoat).

They also left way too much wax on the lights. The wax is baked onto the high beam lenses and will have to be polished/sanded off.

Just rewax the lights. The new wax should soften the old wax so you can wipe it off.

If they used a DA then they would have had to really try to burn the clear coat. If they used a high speed buffer then they would have burned it if they did not know what they were doing.

Yep. The car has not been repainted. The car is a '99 E300TD in AstralSilver. Probably the worst/thinnest paint that MB ever put on a car.

Thank you for the tips, but this just occured after having the car for six years. I've never had issues with the clear coat before.

I have some cleaner/wax that I will try. I did pick up some Klasse polish and wax at some point and haven't had a chance to use it yet.

He was using a high speed rotary polisher. I have a small DA and pads that I've used in the past to polish up some bodywork that I had repainted/re-finished.

I just got lazy and though I would have someone else take care of the elbow-grease.

I guess I will not do that again.
