Placo1:
Just to make things difficult and not clear cut, here's a comment from another site about FINAL DETAIL. I wish sometimes things were a little more clear cut. Its like whats the best wine? What the best wax?
Actually I'd stay away from the Final Detail. I've seen it side by side with Final Inspection and the FI was slicker and had more shine. Even the local rep that did the demo said he prefered the FI on his personal vehicle. Final Detail is the low cost alternative for high volume detailers

bcgreen,

That's interesting to hear. I have a few thoughts on why their opinnion differs.

1. They may be using a different wax altogether. That can easily change the type of results you get with one detailer vs the other.

I for one can honestly say that the Final Detail with Gold Class has created that absolute slickest surface I've ever had on any of my cars, new or old with any wax or polymer I've ever used.

2. The other thought is all the variables that can create different results. This can include, how old is that wax coat, how many coats of wax exist, has the paint seen extensive sunlight, tree sap, bugs, rain or whatever else you might find in the air?

That can make a night and day difference between results. The results I'm talking about are on a car that generally is garaged and is used for short drives, doesn't see rain, does see some sunlight, never gets washed with water, and is babied. All my results are based on the same conditions thus I can say what I say. Any questions?

My personal experience mirrors that of Placo1.

I have used FI for years, but I have found the Final Detail leaves the surface glossier and shinier.

But, if someone feels they get better results with FI, then I wouldn't say they're wrong. It may work better with their car.

I just ordered the Dewalt polisher off of Amazon for $189 delivered. No Tax in Ca.????

Guys, what was the small dual action polisher we used to "not do any work", was it Porter-Cable? I seemed to remember it said Meguiars on it but their website show no product info.

bcgreen,

I'm not aware of any other sites that I'm replying on at the moment? Can you be more specific. If your talking about Benzsport I know one of the guys here cut and paste this topic over there but that's it.

Yeah the dual action polisher is a Porter Cable. It is really a machine made for sanding. You can buy them at practically any hardware store.

Of course, you can buy them off of www.meguiars.com

Also, www.griotsgarage.com sells the same unit, but with their name on it.

Doesn't hurt to shop around for price...

It's hard to believe it's been almost 4 years since holding this class. I'm happy to say I made a lot of friends at this class that are still good friends today!

Thanks everyone!

I went to that one, and several since - you always have a great presentation, and I always learn some new useful info on detailing. Add in the chance to buy products that aren't often found outside the catalog, and finding out about new products (just did the 124 with 2 coats of #21), and these meets can't be beat.

How are the Wednesday evening meets working out?

Hi JCE,

Sorry for the late reply...

This year, (2007), we shifted our week night "Open Garage" classes to Thursday nights and they're very fun. You can check out all the pictures and comments from the class in this forum just for pictures and comments.

Pictures and Comments from our Thursday Night Open Classes

They're open to anyone that signs-up on the sign-up threads, there's usually a link to them on the homepage starting on each Monday.

Does anyone that attended this class back in August of 2002 have any pictures from the event?

If so, could you share them? I'd like to add them to a thread I'm creating on the history of our Saturday classes.

Thanks,

Just a friendly request... does anyone that attended this first class at Meguiar's back in 2002 have any pictures from the event?

If so, could you please send them to me at

Hello Mike,

Good to hear from you and trust you are doing well. I must have two or three pictures from that event somewhere. I will send them as soon as I find them.

Have a great day!
