w123 OEM floor mats... what the heck do they look like?

did w123s ship with carpet + floor mats, or just carpet?
if they came with floor mats, does anyone have pictures, or can you please describe them?

when i bought my car years ago, it only came with the following (click images to make bigger):

some people call that a mat, but after a bit of research, pretty sure that's only carpet (plus foam padding/sound deadening on the bottom). for example, here's a website selling w123 OEM-style carpet, which is a match for what i have:

so i bought some "genuine mercedes" "OEM" w123 mats:

and they seem a bit off to me.
smaller and darker than expected (supposed to be palomino), thin foam backing, made in the US, etc.

but i cant find any good pics of real w123 mats (assuming they exist).

please help!

Haven't thought about it previously but your question has given me pause in that I don't recall ever seeing W123 genuine MBZ carpet mats nor for W114 or W115. The mats I've seen in those cars were all cocoa woven mats and I don't know if any those were genuine MBZ.

I've owned and purchased new genuine MBZ mats for w124's and have seen genuine MBZ W124 and W126 winter rubber mats.

The mats you've pictured probably aren't genuine MBZ but they look nice.

Pretty sure they came with cocoa mats. They would be two color - probably black and natural brown and woven.

still having a hard time finding reference photos, but in combing through some promotional material, i only the see the carpet mat:

i cant find any photos that use mats like what one's ive purchased.
i was going to buy coco mats, but someone recommended these "OEM" mats from Performance Products, so i gave them a try.

i guess i can reach out to them, see if they have any info... but i'll most likely return them and just go with coco.

Cocoa mat was loose and sat upon the carpet. You see the correct carpet.

IMO light cocoa would be "period correct" even if they're not factory issue. If you like how the new mats look use them and enjoy them

Agree. Mine came direct from the Mercedes dealer new. It is a 1981 300SD but I believe the 300D D had the exact same.
