Thumbs up Check This Out, P21 S100 Results!

Ok so I did some research on waxes and after a week of mulling it over I decided to go out and buy some P21 S100 Precleaner Polish and P21 S100 Carnauba Wax. Both of these products can be purchased from your Harley Davidson dealer for a total sum of $25.00. I finished the detail job with Meguiars Final Detail.

I think the results speak for themself:

WOW!

Nice Nice .... How deep is the shine compared to the Meguiars wax you were using?

Any change in the pearlescence?

Norm,

The pearlescence depends on the angle your looking at. This wax has a far better gloss and feel to it compared to the Meguiars. The gloss in certain light will actually hide the pearlescence but in the majority of light it's definitely deeper, the gold flakes show up better

They say the paint appearance improves after a day of curing so I'll take some more shots in the sun this afternoon and post them.

Best part is how easy it is to apply the wax, on and off like butter.

Did you apply the wax by hand or using a PC?

Mark,

I was hesitant after reading your post earlier but for the cost and piece of mind it was worth it. Luckily it paid off, I wonder if our results differ due to different paint types?

Rich,

I still swear by many of Meguiars products and won't be giving up many of them, but I do have half a bottle of Gold Class Liquid if you want it!

Dr. AMG

I applied both the polish and wax by hand, I don't have a PC yet but eventually. Whole job took 3.5 hours from the initial dusting prior to polish to Final Detail QD.

The wax was rediculously easy to apply and remove, easier than Zaino. The polish was equivalent to others I've used, that's when I wish I had a PC or Rotary.

Afshin....awesome car and wax job. You mentioned having used Zaino. I am about to the point of deciding on a wax for my car. How does the P21 compare to Zaino cost and ease of use aside? My paint needs everything...clay bar, cleaner, wax and whatever else.

Several Factors Involved......

mbtjc,

Thanks for the compliments. This will be a long reply to your question.

1. Removing Swirls

After using the clay bar you will need to step back and inspect your paint. If you find that there are alot of light swirls then you'll want to address that before using Zaino or P21S. Meguiars #9 works well to fill and cover light swirls but Zaino won't work with this. Zaino has their own swirl remover (Z5), I wasn't too impressed with it though and that is one of Zaino's biggest limitations, it only works on very very light swirls. If you know how to use a rotary you can try a stronger abrasive from Meguiars professional line to completely remove light scratches and swirls, just keep in mind that you will also be removing paint! Then you can apply the Zaino three step without problems.

2. Applying Polish or Zaino Z5

After you've taken care of the swirl marks you can then move on to applying the P21S Precleaner Shine Enhancing Polish or the Zaino Z1, Z5 to prepare the paint for the final coat. Both of these products will hide very minor swirls and the P21 will enhance the gloss significantly. I wouldn't skip this step.

3. Wax or Sealant

Zaino is essentially considered a polymer sealant, no carnauba in it. If you don't like to wax your car often and want an excellent shine/reflection then this wax is for you. It lasts about 4 months easily and maintains its shine throughout that time. The finish is very slick. The downside is that it doesn't create that warm glow and really hides the metallics depth and beauty. The other downside is that Zaino doesn't mix well with other waxes/detailers so your stuck with it.

The P21 S100 is a Carnauba wax, very high carnauba content. It's downside is that in poor climates you'll have to wax monthly to maintain your protection. But it provides the best depth I've ever seen and the gloss is "wet looking". It brings out the metallics and at the same time provides great reflective qualities.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the detailed reply, Afshin. A few more questions. I have water spots on my hood and some oxidation on my roof. Do I need to do anything other than what you have listed to take care of these things? My car is not metallic, so I guess I don't have to worry about that when deciding on a wax. One of the things that seems better about the Zaino...is that they make a wax specifically for non-clearcoat paint and one for clearcoat. Mine does not have clearcoat...so maybe a more specialized wax like Zaino is better?

As far as shine, would you say that Zaino is almost as good as Carnauba...esp. for a non metallic paint?

With the swirl remover...the #9 does not work with Zaino, but a more abrasive one will? My paint as decent swirling, so this does need to be taken care of. I don't want Zaino to limit me on this.

I guess you could say that I am leaning towards Zaino because of its durability and I'm confident that the shine will be just fine for my mono paint... it is expensive though!!

Mark Cummins was talking to me about P21, then I saw Afshin's results: I'm sold! Today I'm gonna go pick up my two bottles and have some fun! HD dealer says they got it in stock, so it's all good!

I'll get also the padding w/ cloth on it to apply the stuff (from kragen). Is that ok?

And to buff it off, I'll use my new $9 microfiber towel
