the 500E looks like crap b/c of meguiars show car glaze *help*
Alright guys, I'm quite upset, I put a lot of time in to detailing the 500E, and after about 8 hours of work it looks like crap. It looked beautiful up until I applied the meguiars show car glaze. Now it has streaks all over it. So bad I can barely stand to look at the car. I tried calling them and they told me to use deep crystal clean #1 to get rid of them, but they're still staring at me hard. I can't get rid of them...It looks like a spider came and spun 100000 webs all over the car. Help

George try this instead.
1. Reapply the #7 Glaze to the entire car. 2. Go back to the first panel and use an Microfiber to remove the top layer of Glaze. Continue removing the glaze in the same order you applied the glaze. Remember your not trying to remove all the glaze in the first removal, just the top layer. 3. Go back to the first panel and this time use a new Microfiber and remove any remaining Glaze. This should take care of the streaking issue. 4. If you still have streaking or you refuse to put the glaze on again then buy either Meguiars Final Inspection or Quik Detailer and wipe the car down with it. A spray bottle with filtered water should also take care of the streaking.

And make sure you do it in the shade with a cool surface.

Hi hedpe,
First, read this, http://www.autopia.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=23740 It is vitally important that your towels are of the highest quality. Remember, the nap, i.e. the little loops of cotton fiber, dramatically help to slice into and breakup/remove #7 with the first two passes. After that, switch to a premium quality microfiber polishing cloth. Cheapie, knock-offs, don't perform as well. (I don't know what your using, just offering advise/experience) Mike Phillips

I used to use the number 7, and found that if the wiping cloth had anything at all on it, it would smear. Make sure you have a high quality all cotton cloth and change sides so you have a clean side each panel. What did you use for a wax after the number 7? The number 26 paste should have helped straighten out the smears.
I have since switched to Griot's polish and Best of Show wax. It's more money but it does a much better job than I ever got with the Meguiars. |
