Car Covers

I have a 95 E320 Cabriolet and will have to keep in outdoors for most of the winter. I would like recommendations on car covers, component materials, do's/don'ts, bewares, etc. In short help me with your experiences. Thx

Hi deluxejb

I don't have any experience with them but
go to www.************************
they have 6 different ones.
3 for inside use. As it always goes, good, better and best.
Between $119.95-$174.95 for the inside ones.
3 for outside use. As it always goes, good, better and best.
Between $124.95-$189.95 for the outside ones.

They are made by Coverking and are application specific.

Louis.

I'm pretty sure there's more than one thread that discusses covers, but when buying, make sure you get a fitted one, not a generic or universal based on approximate size. The fitting really helps keep the cover snug against the car and not whipping around or blown off. If you're considering a plush, or plush style lining on the inside of the cover, be forewarned that those are best where the car is going to be covered/uncovered in a relatively clean location, since the fibers of the lining tend to pickup debris from the ground and you don't want that stuff rubbing against your paint.

Thank you MTI. I did search on Car Covers (all iterations with boolean logic and quotes) and got a lot but not much to answer my question or offer experiences like yours. I hope more will share the same.

Bring on the experiences, group!

Thx.

One of the oldest and best car covers manufacturers is Cover Craft here in the Los Angeles area. A somewhat poorly kept secret of theirs is that they keep an inventory of blem covers which they sell at a fraction of retail. For example, I got a $250 three layer cover for my old 300D for $45--and I never could figure out what was wrong with it. They have an 800 number, though I don't have it at hand, and I think they are located in Van Nuys. Give them a call and see if you can get a quality cover at an unbeatable price.

I would Buy a NON flannel cover if you have the Cab..Since the soft top will collect the flannel and Make a Huge mess
Another lesson learned ....
California car covers have a great selection of covers!
I Use them..they will custom make anything you want..NO logo..
Mirror pockets/Star slot/delete eyelets etc... No Extra charge for changes...

Been there and...bad timing, I guess...my cover will be @ $280. But if it is the best (2nd best fabric), I guess it is worth it.

Thanks

Q.: damage due to car cover?

Car cover itself may not make scratch.

However, there may be small particles such as sand on the car (I get such particles often because there are so many construction site in my town). In such case car cover may make scratch.

If it is not right after car wash, does car cover protect more ore damage more?
What is your experience or opinion?

I use one of the California Car Dusters on my paint (not on my glass) before I put the cover on my car. It is a wax-impregnated cotton duster that does a very effective job of removing the grit that can abrade the finish if left trapped between the cover and the paint.
