I've been calling around to a few window tinting places in the Bay Area for quotes. One guy told me that the factory tint on a '95 E320 is already at California's legal limit for the two front windows, 30%. This hardly seems possible to me. I can see a very slight color to the glass, but I'd hardly call it a tint. Is this guy crazy or mistaken?

As for pricing, there is one place that says the tint is cut by a computer so they don't have to take the windows out of the doors. They are having a winter sale so the price is $275. Does the job look cheesy if they don't remove the windows?

Another place said they take the windows out of the doors, the tint is completely dry when you get the car back and you can roll down the windows. Their quote was $425. Is it worth the extra money? BTW, this is the place that said the factory tint was already at 30%.

Looking forward to your responses. I get a bonus on Friday and what better way to spend some of it than to make the car pretty.

When i got my windows tinted it cost me 175 and they did not remove the windows and i think it came out very nice. I got 35%(legal) in the front and 15%(illegial) in the rear but thats what the laws are in mass.
