wax life extension by foam wax?

In auto wash or self wash bay, there is wax option.

If I choose this wax at every car wash, how much does it extend the life of real wax?

I prefer to never use the wax option at these places. Not only is the cheap wax a nuisance on the paint for me, but by throwing it everywhere including on the windows, I would imagine you would get some wax buildup on the windows and windshield that might lead to streaking.

Hi Guys,

Just thought I would throw my two cents in about car washes. The self serve as well as the automated may be somewhat convenient but if you really want to take care of your car never go through those car washes. They will ruin your paint over time. Take the time to wash your car yourself and wax it yourself. You will really have a great looking car for a long time that way.

Meguiars web site offers a free consultation of what products to use and how often to wash your car and use them in your specific area and conditions.

I may be kind of weird, but I get a great deal of satisfaction looking at my car after I wash and wax it myself.

I heard it is illegal to wash my car in my apartment parking lot.
So I plan to wash and wax my car at self wash bay.

I am not satisfied with self bay or auto wash either.

I am not sure about the quality of the water there. When I went to a self bay, I could not choose low pressure spray.

At an auto wash, I asked them to pre-treat mud&sand attached to rear side panel.
I would wet the mud&sand to loosen it and then getly remove it. However, they sprayed high pressure water directly to the dried mud&sand. That saves their time, but not my paint.
At another auto wash, while they hand dried the car with towel, the workers scratched the paint with hard zipper on their clothes.
