Unhappy Euro Headlights

Sorry about another eurolite post. I've been looking at old post for the last couple days and I have a few specific questions. First off I will either get the Depo or TYC headlights for an 83 300sd as I've found that most people are satisfied by the results from these lights.
I will run city lights but what prevents them from blinking when jumped from the corner lights?

The front end of my car was damaged and was not fixed properply so the front of one drivers side fender is not aligned quite right and the piece of metal under the light the the L shaped bracket connects to is slightly bent. Is this something i can take care of myself or shoud i have the pros look at this?
I'm gonna try to get a dig camera and get pics up here of the damage.

Will I have to fabricate a bracket? because from what I see, the euro lights are heavier and are supposed to be connected to the car at 3 points on the bottom.

thanks for looking at this post

I'd personally stick with the Bosch or Hella, and stay away from the cheap knock-offs. The reflectors and beam pattern won't be the same, and the cheapos will have a poor fit and finish compared to the OEM manufactures.

My observations are that there not that bad for the money.
Sure I'd buy OEM if I had the money, but..

i got used OE euro lights for my dads 126, they cleaned up really nice. go them off e-bay for $150 i think, probably too much but i was in a hurry.

i had two problem putting them in.

first, figuring out that i needed an adaptor for the connection, which were cheap, but had to wait another week. then i had to figure out which order the pins go into the new euro connector, which took forever.

second, on the passenger side light, the bracket from the US light didnt fit on it, so its only held in place by 3 screws instead of 5. i wabbles slightly if you push on it. the 2 i couldnt put in were on the bottom.

they look great, they have some very small chips in them, but so does the rest of the grill and hood, so i guess it matches. why put new parts on an old car if you dont have to?

later

My passenger side light is minus the "L" shaped bracket at the bottom. No worries.

Try this.....

Thanks for the advice. I'm not trying to go that deep into the pocket for these but I have been monitoring ebay in case any OEM lights pop up. Does anyone know anything about the city lights though or the damage i have up front?

The city lights connect to the side marker lamp power, not the blinker. They do not blink that way. As for the damage you have, it is hard to say without looking at it. If I could bend the metal back into a useful configuration myself, and then paint it to keep it from rusting, I would. It is not a cosmetically sensitive area it sounds like, so all you are looking to accomplish is to make it sound mechanically to attach the lamp. Hope this helps, Jim

City Lights

I achieved the true euro look by running pin 4 from the side markers into slot 58 in the 6-pin wiring assembly for the euro lights. This effectively allows operation of the city lights ONLY with the light switch turned to the first position AND no side markers (dim function deactivated by moving the pin). Now, when I operate the blinker with the lights on, I get ON/OFF...ON/OFF. I find this much more effective than the ON/DIM alternative. Be advised that this may not be legal where you are located.
