Installing Heat Exchanger MBZ300Dt
Got a www.biodieselsupply.com heat exchanger and am looking for tips on install. I am very handy but know nothing about it. Anyone have basic install tips? What extras I will need, etc? The reason I am installing it is I want to run a 50/50 SVO/Dino Mix in the main tank without a kit, which I heard is ok in warm weather with an 85 300Dt. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

I have a heat exchanger in 2 of my 3 300Ds, all are running a 50:50 biodiesel:WVO blend in mid winter in Oz.
I tapped into the coolant lines: 1. Where the coolant line exits the head, goes past the oil filter and into the firewall to the heater. I cut this in the vertical section adjacent to the oil filter and installed a 5/8" tee there to supply the coolant to hte heat exchanger. It does not interfere with changing the filter. 2. Where the coolant line returns from the heater control valves, it has a steel pipe under the intake manifold, which connects via a 5/8" hose which has a 90' bend in it, to the water pump. I cut off the 90' bend and added in a 5/8" tee for the coolant return line from the heat exchanger.

Thanks! What's the temp in midwinter in Oz? You think this little getup reduces the power of the cabin heater significantly? My girlfriend complains about diesel heat (lukewarm) all the time.
