Road Trip,,,, Wish me luck

Taking the 300D from NJ to Kentucky to go to my grandfather's funeral.

With the money I've invested in the old beast this year, it should be problem free, but luck and prayers requested.

I could drive my wife's new car, but I just love the Diesel on the hiway.

JCD

jcd, don't sweat it. I went at a moment's notice to pick up my daughter, grandson, and son-in-law in San Diego. ( I live in Tulsa, Ok) I did change the oil before I went and managed to break the vacuum fitting on the line that shuts off the engine. For the whole trip, I was hopping out to use the under hood shutoff lever.
I hadn't met my in-laws yet; they are fairly well-to-do in a nice neighborhood. When I pulled up in my little clatterbox and had to pop the hood to shut down, I'm sure that I made a great first impression. However, I burned no oil during the trip and managed to average about 31 mpg.

These old cars are just great.

Sorry to hear about the circumstances of the trip.. but it is a great drive, JCD.

About this time last year I drove from here to KY.. about 20 miles from the TN border. I took I-79 down and boy what a drive through the mountains.. I hope your 300D is up for it. Good luck!

Luck?

Luck? I'll do you one better -- I'll put in a good word with the Big Guy. Seriously, have a safe trip and sorry to hear of your loss. My prayers are with you.

Chris

He did ask for luck and prayers just so you know. I'm sure your offer will be just fine.

Ah yes, missed that. Well, at any rate, consider the job done!

Yeah, I forgot to wish you luck. And prayers always beat good planning anytime.

That may be, but prayers cannot help "poor planning" at ALL.

Returned, thanks for the kind words

Funeral was very nice. My grandfather was 93 and had about 5 great, great grandchildren. For those of you who know what "horse pulling" was..... pre-tractor pulling days..... he was "World Champion" in 1959, 60 & 61. Quite a guy.

The car ran like a top. These cars are really something. 13 hours straight in the car yesterday and I feel better than I usually do after my 1 hr 15 minute commute.

JCD

BTW, Prayers are good.
