Sweet car! And it looks like you got a good deal on it. I've been thinking about getting a 300CD as a second car, and would love to find one as nice as that.
BTW, whose '68 Camaro is that in the background? I used to have a '69 and wish I still did! Congrats!

That's my project car that I can never get good and going on. Runs and drives great. I take it out regularly. I had a 67 RS/SS 396 when I was younger and missed it every since parting with it. Came across this 68 on one of the days I was thinking about my 67 and decided I needed it. |

I should be spending time on my Camaro, as it sits in the garage under its cover and then a bunch of blankets that the cats lay on. I sometimes go 6 months without starting it, and it always fires right up after pumping fuel back through the lines. Idles just as smooth as if it were injected. I spend all my spare time trying to keep my '80 300TD running...
The Camaro has 59,000 actual miles too. Had it 12 years, and haven't put a thousand miles on it I don't think. I know, that's criminal... JL

Found my blower problem today. It's actually not a blower problem, but a corroded fuse. Had planned on doing a lot of maintenance and other items tomorrow, but now with the hurricane predicted to pass nearby, I'll have to wait and see on the weather. Anyway, ran into a right window/Left rear window problem today, suspected a fuse and decided to rotate all the fuses while I was there. Sure enough, the blower problem was related to a fuse (as was the window). Anyway, picked up some new fuses at Napa today. They carry the newer glass enclosed style fuses with pointed ends. Now I have to match color to amp as I'm use to just replacing color for same color. Does anybody remember the amps/color off the top of their head? While I was under the hood, I norticed that all the bolts in the compressor were loose, with one completely out. Glad I caught it and checked all bolts under the hood after finding that. Should have thought to check that earlier as I know better when it comes to diesels and shaking bolts loose.

"Now I have to match color to amp, as I'm used to just replacing color for same color."
Believe that the old style have the amp level in raised numerals on a portion of the body. Probably on the back side not covered by the fuse link.

Noticed on the fuse cover that list color and amps.
Changed fuel filters, air filter, oil filter, oil and flushed the cooling system and refilled with Zerex yesterday. The expansion tank was leaking at the seam and I had to put a Volvo one that I had on hand in there until I can get a new one in. Also noticed the aux fan was binding and took it apart and replaced the front bearing. Replaced the speedo cable with one from a newer SD but it's still not registering. It was getting late and had to head home, hopefully I just didn't get it completely seated on one end, as it looked identical to the one that came out. |

I wish:
That they sold the 300CD in Australia back in 1980 - 85, that they sold the 300D with Turbo in Australia back in 1980 - 85, that freight from USA was really cheap nowadays and that you lot drove on the other side of the road. If either the first 2 or the second 2 wishes came true, I would now be driving a 300CD turbo. Boo hoo.

I wish that on my side of the pond, 3-piece AMG rims were easier to find.
