Anyone try to change the seat covers on their cars rather than having it done?
Performance produxts sells the MB tex for my SDL's drivers seat for 299.00. 499.00 fro leather. IT includes the lower and upper cover as well as the head rest and arm rest(drivers seat) The only question is, how difficult is it to do? I'm wrestling with removing one of the seats now, so I can dye it. That by itself has me puzzled. I thought there would be a plug I can remove with the entire seat but it looks like the seat frame will have to be separated from the rest, which doesn't look like pie either. ![]() Damn cars. I wish I could have bought one new in 1987 and had properly maintained it all these years instead of having to do it now. ![]()

Not too difficult to do the bottoms. I've not tried to the do the tops, so I can't answer that. The bottoms are a tension fit - if you feel around the bottom of the seat, there's a tab that runs along the front and reach edge of the frame. You relieve the tension of the seat by putting pressure on the seat bottom. This gives you enough slack pull the tab free. Then, you are able pull back the cover. There are a couple of threads on replacing the horsehair pads and spring frame that have pictures as to how its done. Good luck.
