Even Diesel drivers go to traffic court. Anyone have a nice traffic court story?
Until last year I was naïve as a rock about courts and traffic law. Like any other mechanic I thought you could solve Tickets like car trouble, by yourself. Just show up and be honest…using this simple approach I almost lost my license and insurance on a combination of harmless wrong turns and absent minded maneuvers.
One day I noticed a Driver at work with numerous speeding violations had fewer points!
I asked him why and he said “You have to hire not only a lawyer but the right lawyer.”
On a deeper note, I come from a land where sometimes justice and human rights can be disrespected. Yet here, some famous guilty people are free because they can afford great lawyers. Why is Martha Stewart is going to jail and _____ free?
It makes you think about Traffic Justice….

A long time friend has owned a VW independent shop for many years. He drives Porsches and Mercedes but his first love is vintage VWs. He was driving from Pasadena to the Ventura speedway track one evening with one of his mechanics in a right hand drive notch back VW he bought in Hong Kong. He was late and he was speeding on the 126 when a CHP stopped him. He opened his (right side) door to get out and deputy Barney went for his gun and ordered him to remain in the vehicle with his hands on the dash. He did. He then issued a ticket to the passenger (left side) and never noticed it was right hand drive. The mechanic told the judge he wasn't driving and his witness, the shop owner, told the judge that the car was parked outside. He went and looked. Case dismissed.
And a good time was had by all. Except Barney.

Got some Martha Stewart high end lawyer issues, eh? We will trade you even for Michael Jackson. Looks like Florida got OJ Simpson but I'm not sure who we got in trade.

My younger son rear-ended someone last week and it was clearly his fault, because although the lady in the front car stopped very suddenly at an intersection with a green light, it was because she saw a fire truck coming on the other street, which was still out of my son's field of view. For some reason which I can't comprehend, he was charged with reckless driving, and we would like to get it reduced to following too close or inattentive driving for the sake of his insurance record. Any suggestions???

is that the smaller townships issue tickets because they need the funds to sustain their department and sometimes I wonder if this is correct. The police are supposed to serve and protect the people but now we are getting to where they are not really protecting the people but maybe the other extreme..on some of the violations I got, i don't think a CHP officer would even waste the time..taking a U turn at a freeway toll stop on a Sunday at 4 am because I had no fare? The officer who wrote it (4 points!!)wasnt even a Highway Officer--he was from a small township which barely had a toehold on the exit...
