Question Gas turbo question for dieselheads--funny smell mean turbo is dying?

Sorry, for posting this here, but I like this forum a lot. I smell something funny on my Volvo 940 Turbo, both in the passenger compartment and engine compartment, sometimes I think it resembles auto trans fluid. All my fluid levels are okay, ECU lights okay,,the car runs great but the smell is not my imagination, something is Wrong!!!Tonite it suddenly dawned on me that perhaps its a precursor to Turbocharger failure..anyone smell this before when a gas turbo dies? Reason I think this is maybe it means the bearings are coked--I have no experience in failed gas turbos, diesel turbos never die( car has 172 K)
