Top End

I take my 76 240D to my office and run it on the tollway. I usually cruise between 75 and 80. what is the top end on the car and am I doing any harm by running it at 80?
Thanks

Talking Diesels love running hard

As my brother was pulling back my Mercedes 300d from where we bought it he revved his 1996 3500 Cummins up to about 200rpm from red line, 3000... It was about 4-psi higher oil pressure to after running about 10 hours continuously.

i drive my 1983 240D at 65-70mph. I used to drive it at 80 but decided to slow down and my gas consumption went down drastically. I also go used to the slow speed

Diesel fuel would work better, vegetable oil or bio fuel, but not gasoline. LOL, ROTFL.....

When people ask what kind of "gas" mileage I get with my car, I tell them over 1,000 mi. per gal. (That's about how often I have to fill my weedeater).

My 71 220d and all the 123 240d's I've had will run fine at 80, but usually consume more oil because of the sustained high revs at that speed. Usually if I took an 1000 mi trip at 80, I'd need to add a quart of oil. But at 70-75 I would hardly use any oil.
