'85 190D--5 speed for sale in Miami,fl. area

If anyone is interested--I saw this in the AutoTrader--miami-ft.lauderdale edition today. It will also be on the online version --Trader.com----I beleive it is the same car I looked at several months ago as it was not officially for sale at the time. It had around 85K miles, it had new paint--a metallic bronze if my memory serves me correctly. It was owned by an ASE mechanic employed at a large dealer here locally. I passed on it as my experience with 190s had not been positive. Having owned a 81 300TD and now (2) 240s--just 2 much of a difference in quality for me. Maybe for someone else-it may what rocks your boat. Probably as nice of a 190D as you will find. I sold a 84--190D 6 months ago and one thing for sure--with that 5 speed-it really delivered on Fuel mileage 38-41 mpg on the interstate at 55-60mph. Check it out if it interest you--do not know if it is still for sale.

Yes-it should be on their website-trader.com as all ads placed in the autotrader are automatically listed in their online sales also.

I got all the parts sitting in one spot just waiting till my exams are over. Rutgers University is pretty tough and I need to keep my As.

The conversion actually looks very very easy. Not that many parts and everything is self explanatory. I'll keep my thread going with the detailed pics as well.

thanks

I am hoping it goes well for you-I have similiar plans-I have a '77 with a nasty body(read swiss cheese) but it is 4 speed. My other MB 240 is an 81(auto tranny) with a great body and interior which I got for $300--the engine may or may not fire up. That is the current issue-once I get this engine problem resolved I can proceed like you. I currently have another Diesel-a '99 VW TDI--a Red GLS with Black leather interior. I don't know if I will keep the VW once I get the MB fixed up or not--the VW is a nice car but all electronic and while the engine durability is not in question-the electronics are. My TDI really gets up and goes -much more fun to drive then my old MB but the lessons of the Tortoise(mb) and the Hare(vw-tdi) should be heeded. Actually my VW TDI Beetle weighs a 100-200lbs more then my old 84-190D did-surprising.

I know what you mean about the VW. I just sold my 2002 GTI VR6 (red as well) SUPERCHARGED. The thing was amazing and it moved like crazy. To top it off I had 18 inch wheels on it and a nice aftermarket full exhaust. It sounded like a BEAST ready to attack you. I got rid of it since I would rather have money in the bank then have 3 cars and a sportsbike. Now I have more time to spend with the benz and a crap load of money in the stock market.
I never had any problems with the GTI, eventhough it was supercharged.

I do miss it all the time. Especially having a car that was close to 300HP and weighed way way less than the 67 hp 240D.

I found two 190-D's for sale, one in Miami and another in Ft. Lauderdale, but both are automatics. The one in Miami is advertised at $3000, the other is a dealer noted for way high asking prices.

Perhaps there is another, but it's over 75 miles from me, which means it's NOT in the city of Miami.

I don't have a copy of that autotrader in my condo-but I am going to the 7-11 later on tonight and will doublecheck the Ad. I could have swore it was a 5 speed. You know what they-the mind is the first to go and I may have misread the ad. These 190D-5 speeds turn up so infrequently so I will recheck it! Hate to put out bum info. If it is the one this mechanic has its a nice one(for a 190)
