I just got a check engine light on 99 E300 turbodiesel with 93K mi. I did a search of the forum and got bunch of EGR and air mass sensor issues. I do not have a fault code reader so I am blind. I do have a third party warranty with $100 deductible, I will see how they want to handle it. I might as well take it to the dealer and have the eger changed or cleaned etc. I will let the forum know of any new development and if someone has any advice or suggestions by all means write them. I have A 99 e30DT with 89K and just go a check engie light as well. Took it to an auto parts store that does will read the error codes for free. It turned out to be the MAF (mass air flow sensor). Te dealer what $380 for the part, found it online for $160. It seemed to fix the problem.

Today I borrowed a coworker's OBD scanner and the car indicated a P0100 MAF error. We cleared it and will see if the MIL light will come back.
