michakaveli, that's an exceptional redline for a traditional diesel engine. That's like the redline of many gasoline powered cars which have way less compression.

Yeah a friend of mine woke me up last night to tell me he was stuck in the mud, and to bring out the Bug to pull him out. It was downpour, cold, and not a time to be in my bug...so I grabbed the benz. I hooked onto him (I was on muddy pavement...him in the deep stuff) and just slowly inched the throttle down...never spun a tire or anything...guess that super bad throttle responce at off the line is good sometimes
just have to stay out of boost
