Feeler - 1993 300D 2.5 Turbo With 176k

Hey guys, looking into selling my Diesel. It's just not working here thorughout the New England winters.

1993 300D 2.5 Turbo
176,000 Miles
Smoke Silver/Tan MB-Tex
Pristine Condition (I've posted pics here before, pics available on request.)
Oil Changes every 5k miles.
A must see to beleive.

Mechanical Flaws:
Sunroof is closed, won't open.
New Idle Sensor Needed
Right rear shock needed
2 New Glowplugs needed

Physical condition is perfect, washed weekly inside and out. Zebrano wood treated, seats treated, no dash cracks, no rips in seats. Never been in accident. Clean carfax. The car is mint except for the flaws I listed earlier.

Although it is a NE Car, it has been constantly garaged year round.

What would you guys pay and would anyone be interested?

Sad news

Sorry to tell you.
It is a buyers market at this time.
I am watching Rolls-Royce and Bentley worth $60,000.00 going for $20,000.00 so don't get your hopes up on the price.

Here in Texas it'd be worth more without the Kerry bumper sticker

Seriously, we had a 1993 with about 10K fewer miles listed for sale just a few weeks ago. It was a Texas car, and the condition was pristine. This one claimed no mechanical issues, so it would have a leg up on yours. The asking price was $8600, and it sold within two weeks, so I suspect it went for fairly close to that number.

Yours seems to need about a thousand bucks worth of work, so I'd be thinking $7.5K for starters. Being a northeast car all its like may further reduce the value due to the perception of salt & rust issues.

My $.02

I 'd say with the list of repairs that you show and the fact of the high milage a realistic value of around $6500. is what you should be looking at.

Where in NE are you? Have you priced the parts for the idler repair and the GPs? How's the A/C? What's wrong with the sunroof and it it an easy fix? What kind of mileage are you getting? Got any service records?
I may be interested as I'm looking for a good nice weather car to replace my ageing Mazda 929. I have 2 83 300 Diesels now, one's a nice coupe, the other is an ugly but great running sedan. Let me know. Also, you may want to watch E-Bay for a while and see what they are going for.

rdanz, 176k is nothin.

my 10k more miles and it probably needs ALL new shocks, and i wouldnt take any less than $8000 for it.

HomeRunPark, think replacement value. how many 124's in excellent shape are there on the market? not many, even in Texas. and how else can you get a high quality luxury car that will last for at least another 100k miles for less than $10,000? i cant think of a way.

had an '87 300D about 5 years ago with over 300k miles on it. 2 windows wouldnt go down and the radio didnt work. sold it for $7500, no joke. set a high asking price and take the first offer. also, you would probably get another $500 for it without the kerry sticker

later

Gentlemen, I know it's cliche', but this car is mint.

It was given to me by my grandfather, he has owned MB's since he was 18. He has all service records, can tell you everything that ever happened to it.

I can't tell you how much it will cost to repair, becuase he has always repaired it. I have only paid for parts. The sunroof problem is in the roof itself, its not the sunroof motor.
The Idle sensor problem he diagnosed as the idle sensor, I assume it is just a swap.

I would LOVE to sell it to someone on this forum, as it is truly in great shape and would be fantastic to get it into a good dieseler's hands. Here are some pics -
