Hi All,
This summer my beloved stick shift 1976 240D (115 chassis) seized the engine. It was running hot but never boiled. I flushed the radiator and bought a new thermostat and was planning to replace it but waited for too long ![]() With a hard feelings I offer the remains for sale. I really liked the car and I would rather replace an engine but I can not afford the $$ to do it in the shop and I do not have equipment, skill and place to do it myself. The car can not wait on the street till I get rich neither. From the latest additions, I have a new alternator from Napa with lifetime warranty, passenger side mirror and nice horse hair back seat cushion. The car has original starter and it should be in working conditions I guess. I am not sure about water pump, keeping in mind the circumstances. The 4-speed transmission worked fine, though sometimes it was making sounds going into second and in reverse. I am not sure if it would improve with a new clutch. There is no air conditioner in this car. I also did a cheap fix of broken heater fun which was making noice rotating by itself at cruising speed: I removed it and through it out together with some plastik tubes and parts for ventilation which became redundant. what else.. It has an original Bekker radio for which I bought FM trasmitter to play through it CDs and mp3s. It comes with a nice jack which I bought from a guy whose 190D seized an engine when the coolant pipe torn out. I have a CD for 115 chassis and I also have some little things like couple new fuel filters and belts I used to keep in the car. Please, email me 4serge@gmail.com if someone is interested in whole thing or any parts. Alternatively, if someone has an engine for 115 sitting around and willing to put it in, pls give me a quote.. I did not think that I will ever contribute to this forum, which was an incredible resource for me, in this sad way, but take my advice: do not wait a single day to take action if you see your diesel engine heats up above normal. alas, even the strongest will fall take care, sergey |
