wow!!! that's alot of smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe.
i've only seen trucks and busses smoke that much....it did seem pretty damn quick too. my 240D would definitely not be able to keep up

I found it interesting that they used a modified non-turbo 603 intake manifold.

non-turbo 603 intake
so THAT's where I've seen that before.
I think it was simply to make connecting to the intercooler easier. The other wild 603 we saw on a different site capped off the normal 603 crossover pipe inlet, and they welded a new inlet on the opposite side, to allow the intercooler to connect on the driver's side.I still won't give up my AC for a giant intercooler, though... has to be in the wheel well, or across the front spoiler, or something! :p |

Just how large of an intercooler do you consider? I had an intercooler in a previous volvo 760. It was located in front of the radiator. Don't know how much volume it held? Steve........... |

For a small power gain, say 20-25% (a la Mosselman) with the stock turbo, a small intercooler would be fine. These guys are making double or triple the stock power ratings and using double the stock boost pressure, so then need gigantic intercoolers the size of the radiator (see photos in links above). I'm more interested in the modest setup, I'd prefer to retain my 30mpg, and keep the smoke belching to a minimum. :p
