Differential Oil Location

I am trying to change the differential oil on my new 1983 300DT 5 cylinder sedan, but I cant find the location. I see a picture in the haynes book but I still cant find it. If anybody could help that would be great!!

Also if it is underneath, due to gravity how do you refill it?

Here is the Service Manual for that job. You need Acrobat Reader to make it open.

Make sure you can get the FILL plug out first. If you can't, don't remove the drain plug.

The opening page for the manual.

The rear axles meet at the differential. The drive shaft attaches to the front of the differential. There are two 14mm allen type plugs. The drain plug is on the lower right side. The fill plug is on the right rear of the differential. Remove both plugs to drain. Replace lower plug, then fill with proper gear oil to bottom of fill plug opening. Then replace fill plug. Use new seals if possible.
