MA or NH Salvage Yard Advice Needed

Hi all,

Can you give me any advice about good salvage yards in the Boston to Plymouth NH areas?

I'm looking for small parts to pull like trim, turn signal assemblies, switches etc. for a 84 300d and a 83 300td

Any advice would be appreciated!

Chuck

There's NOTHING. I've done the search, they're really extremely difficult to comeby. If you do find one, please let me know, I'd really be interested.

if you want to go a little so. east of boston, off of 495 at rt. 1A, you'll find a guy with about 50 or so part cars, all MB's. Take the exit off 495 so. that goes 1A south and he's about 1mile on the right. His name is russ, I've gotten maney parts from him. steve 83SD

There is a large scrap yard in Shirley, MA. They typically stock Volvos, Saabs, MBs, BMWs, etc. The problem is what's left has been totally cannibalized. Oftentimes just the chassis with some unusable parts remains. The scrapyards are very smart when it comes to front-end and rear-end parts such as turn signal lights and taillights. Those are the big-dollar items and are the first things to come off all cars as they roll into the yard. Try them though, they're called Greenleaf Auto Salvage @ 800-752-0146. They have probably 75+ acres of cars in varying stages of disrepair...

Thanks!

Thanks for the info! I'll have a few weeks on the east coast, so anywhere in the Boston or NH areas are within range...

Any more out there?

Any others out there? I promise not to pull all the good parts (and I will even pull some parts for you in exchange for letting me in on the secret yard!).

Drop me a PM.

Thanks! Chuck

Thumbs up Auto yard in MA

ak300TD,
There's a great Greenleaf Auto yard in Leominster, MA. I was there last summer. They have several rows of good-looking MB's, and you can call them ahead of time to find out if they have the car\part you need. You can pull the part yourself, or they also have a large stock of pulled parts, and will mail them to you if you can't make it there. They are very reasonable, $-wise.

84300dt, no its not, but it can be. strange, huh. Russ is an old timer and after I got to know him, he let me go down back and get what I need for parts. Right now he's getting rid of about 10 or 15 cars, sorta cleaning up a bit. He's got this guy with a small trailer who gives russ $50.00 a car. He has a 15 yard dumpster down back with about 10 motors in it. The best thing is to call him and ask if the part you want is available. His # 508-384-8552. Then bring some tools with you, expect having to sit and chew the fat with him before he lets you go done back. steve 83sd
