My Dear Diesel Brethren,

I have found a nice 1985 300SD with a weak engine and I have a crunched 1985 300D with a nice engine. Is this a bolt-in swap? I know that the transmissions are different, but what about the engines? I have been lusting for a 300SD for some time now . . .

Should be a straight swap if neither is a California car. If one is a California car, mix and match the bits as necessary.

I think you will have to swap over the oil filter housing, but everything else should be the same.

Let me know what you want for your old engine-I have a 300DT with a weak engine(a lot of blowby,will need rings or worse, sleeves ),I'd also be interested in the differential(if not badly crunched)for the higher ratio ring & pinion (I have the old high ratio)
