Red face Did I make a good buy??

Hey guys,

I just bought this item on ebay,....http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7932486038&indexURL=0&photoDisplayType=2#ebayphotohosting

and I sure hope that I made a good buy. Somehow I have this feeling that maybe this isn't what I was expecting. What do you all think, and was the price too high? I am not doing it for the tires, I have 4 brand new michelins on mine right now. I plan on swapping them!

The seller has offered a complete set of tires and wheels. However, he makes no mention of the brand and model of tire and he makes no statement on the remaining tread depth.

The wheels appear to be chromed, and, if done properly, they are well worth the price paid. However, the seller makes no mention of "chrome" anywhere in the listing.

The wheels were not originally chrome AFAIK. The quality of aftermarket chrome varies widely.

Thanks Brian for your input. I dont think they are chorme, but I have sent an email to the seller to cofirm this. I really dont want them to be chrome, but if they are I guess it wont hurt. Although I am really trying to keep the old girl as original as I can. This is not a car to be adding 22" wheels with booming coming out of the back and dragging on the pavement!

I told him I would go pick them up since he's only about 2 hr away. Sure beats $70.00 shipping. I can make the trip on $20.00 of diesel/veggie oil

Those wheels are not chromed. Just in very good shape.

Quite a neat trick to get that kind of reflection off a painted wheel!

Wish I could get mine to look that good.

A real shame they are not what you expected. I would leave the feedback you want, because whatever he leaves you can put a rebuttle. I had that issue with the clown that sells the Propain injection e-books on ebay.

Well written but it gives you no more info than you can get on the web by searching for 2 minutes. Gave a neutral feedback because it lacks any real detailed info. He gave me a neutral and I rebutted that the auction was borderline fraudulant.

I've often heard that the easiest thing to do is seldom the correct thing.

Just got negged by a retalitory non-paying deadbeat on ebay, well not quite non-paying, she just didn't want to pay Global Express mail prices as stated in the auction so I would have a chance to trace the item to verify it had been received.
I failed to use Global Express a year or two ago and the customer claimed to have never received the items, he put in a claim with paypal and even though I had a receipt from the post office with his address printed on it, paypal sucked $150.00 back out of my account along with a $20-25.00 penalty.

Anyway I knew when I left her feedback she would retaliate but I'll be d###ed if I am going to be held hostage by some little piss-ant who wants to take advantage of people.

Sorry, rant off.
Good night all

Hi Yall,

You are all right. I am going to give give him negative feedback. That little pissant didn't even acknowledge the 2 page e-mail I sent him. So now I'm going to tell ebayers to watch out for this bozzo. I want to thank all of you for supporting me through this really difficult realization for me.

I have put those wheels back on ebay, WITH THE PROPER DESCRIPTION. All I want is to be able to get my money back, or at least not be in the hoel all the way. Remember I am a student and money doesn't come as easily as it goes!

You can view the item if you wish....#7935067285

Where are you located in Miami? If I am not mistaken, my idny has a set of those wheels that he is getting rid of. I can check it out for you if you like, I am in the Kendall Tamiai airport area, his shop is down the street from mine.

Not providing honest feedback promotes the degradation of ebay. My experiences on ebay have been positive to date. After reading your post I feel there's no reason to check the feedback that a person recieves. If others follow your method (don't risk providing honest feedback for fear of retaliation) its just a bunch a false feedback anyhow. Glad to hear you're being fair in the effort to return the wheels to the market and recoup some of your $. good luck. "buyer beware"...why should ebay be exempt from this age old adage..Cheers. I hope you haven;t lost too much sleep over this ordeal. I just bought was what represented as an '88 190E with "no rust" from a kit who advertised the car right here on Mercedesshop. He acknowledged that he had done "rust repair" in the rockers. After a week of the car sitting in my driveway I noticed that his "repair" was sagging a bit. Half and hour later, I had ripped a HUGE chunk of fiberglass out of the rocker and wheel well to discover WET, UNTREATED rust still underneath. I asked him about it and sent photos of the rust, to which he said there was nothing he could do, and that is always the way he has done bodywork. Nice, huh? I'm still not sure how this car qualkifies as "no rust" as his ad states, but he's clearly not interested in making good on the deal.

You're not alone in getting screwed, my friend! I firmly believe, though, that karma comes around to these folks and that they'll get their due in the end. For every person they screw over, they'll be screwed over in turn. You are doing the right thing by representing the rims honestly on Ebay. I guarantee that good things will come your way in turn! Look, folks in your area are already lining up to help you find a nice set of rims, and if I had a set I'd offer them to you!

You have a serviceable set of rims on your car now, right? So you're not unable to drive your car. That's the good news. And while $3xx is a lot of money, it's only money. More can be earned. I know it's hard to convince yourself of this (my rust repair is going to KILL my Christmas fund!), but it's the truth of the matter.

Above all, I hope you find a nice set of rims for your car. I bet you will!

Chris
