That MoFo is TIGHT.

Make sure that you know exactly what you are dealing with before you go any farther.
Oh, there is definitely no heater already there... I took a peek in and was rewarded with the sight of a 3/4" hex fitting... I'm dreading having to deal with it. Those stick-on deals are sounding better every minute.

If I do go after it, I need to drain the coolant, right? I've got PB penetrant, a torch, a pneumatic impact wrench (though that may not be enough, based on what I've seen..), and the hex socket. Oh, and some whiskey for afterwards... Scary plug. Its just a stupid plug, why does it have to be such a pain?

peace,
sam

...this says it all for me. Working on my car has to be an outlet for relaxation. Done too much back against the wall struggling in years past. BTW, if that has a 29-30mm external hex, it's not the dreaded stock plug. Maybe it's even a block heater without the cord, or a brass plug inserted in an adapter in the block

I just did a block heater on mine......that is a job.................90% of your coolant will come out went you pop it off. I would be real hesitant with a torch on that........you manage to crack the block due to localised heating you are going to be crying a river. and yes you do need 3-4 feet of cheater pipe. Once it starts the rest is much easier.
