Webwench I don't like your new avitar, and a Yamehamer is a "rice burner" not a "Hog", a "Hog" is an HD. There is no comparrison between them, as I have owned about 6 different Yamaha's over the years and one HD over the years.

Also I am a cat lover and my 25 lb tomcat is sharing the foot stool portion of my recliner with me at present.

I agree, A hog is a HD.....I have owned and ridden the same harley since 1983. Before that I owned A Yamaha 550 maxxim, a Yamaha RD350, a suzuki TM125, a Gemini Boss 125 (ever hear of one of those? I'll bet not, was a 1969 Chinese Motocross bike)

I have also owned a Aprilia 50 extrema, and a few other ones like a 50cc honda Cafe racer, and a few Italian mopeds.

I can tolerate cats but I am a dog person at heart.

I recognize this seller, we have discussed his cars before. Someone posted that they went to look at a couple cars and they were not as described. They were an SD and 124 2.5 E300D?

Aww, guys, the 300D isn't really an old man either

And don't worry, the avatar is (1) a crop of a silly Howard Dean photoshop, and (2) likely to get rotated out soon anyway... I like kitties too, and have three.

P.T. Barnum once said a fool and his money is soon parted. Who in their right mind would pay this much for a car in this condition?

I have met this guy and looked at a car he was selling.. he seemed to be very straightfoward and honest. I don't understand why all of you are throwing him under the bridge. He photographed the obvious flaws and noted any flaws he found. What more can he do?

First its a 5 cylinder, now its a 6 cylinder. For being in business for 40 years, the seller doesn't seem to know much about engines. How hard can it be to count the number of injector lines coming out of the IP?

Looks like it still has the trap oxidizer.

It looks like a halfway decent car with a fairly honest seller. If I were looking for a wagon I would take a look at it. It might be worth $1k-$2k.

It has a trap ox! Yeah free parts!

I look at ebay as looking throught the Newspaper you have to actually look at the car to realy get a good idea of what it is. This is very true for old MB's.

What happend to the center console wood?

I think that the no dissapointments line, tended to make others believe that the car was in better shape than it was.

Maybe it has an FM modulator controlled CD changer in the trunk?

I've been riding/racing motorcycles for years and you are absolutely right Old Navy. I also live 15 miles from the HD plant where you can tour and see all the hogs you want. Never liked the AMC hogs from the early 80's. I presently own no hogs, but do have a rice burner-- a '69 Honda CB 750 that is a superb original example I've owned since '80. Also, I've got a 4 wheeler for use around the farm and 14 vintage mopeds as well as 1 custom moped I built myself. Most of the peds are Puchs. Oh yeah--got a Whizzer too. I'm sure us older guys remember the Whizzers...

Boneheaddoctor, you wouldn't happen to have a pic of that chinese motorcrosser would you? I have heard of them but never seen one. Ossa is one that is hard to find as well.

The car? I'd believe carfax and I think the wood is just the finish cracking. Looks bad because of the reflection from the interior.

Wonder why the tailgate wasn't fully photographed? N.Y. car = rust.

I also like the statement about the "gas mileage". Just a slip of the toungue I'm sure--

Cheers,

Bill

I never really noticed as many dicrepancies on E-bay until I started listening here about them. Now they kinda glare at me. Thanks to all who have shown me to read the descriptions, and look closely at the photos.

Look at this description...

THERE ARE NO DISAPPOINTMENTS HERE! The air conditioning blows warm. The sunroof does not work! The driver's seat has wear cracks in it and can be seen in the photos!! The woodtrim in the center console has faded from the Florida heat. The Rear wagon door supports are weak. We tried to photograph any defects but please remember this is an 18 year old car!!

Still searching for my wife's 86-87 SDL.

Joe
I am seeing a lot of crap on eBay these days--I saw a MB 300TD engine for sale--it was local where I live in Miami--I emailed the seller 5 times for his phone and address so I could come and check the motor out with my mechanic--the biddong was up to $300+ last I looked--he emailed me back once--did not know the Compression, state of engine-if it ran or bot, how many miles on the motor--NOTHING--that a legitimate buyer could use that would help him in making up his mind as whether he should buy the motor. This should be illegal!!

This is happening on ebay all the time-I was looking for a home theater and you really have to be careful-it says "new" in one place and "refurbished" in another-I'm wondering when the scam artists are going to completely take over-I've had customers of mine spend thousands on restaurant equipment and get stuck big time. Somebody needs to get serious at Ebay or they're going to get such a bad rap that nobody will trust any of them!
