Someone outbid me at the last second on this sweet deal:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7938015955

Looking at their feedback, they must either be a collector or seller as they've sure bought a lot of older car books lately.

These arrived today and even though I have found the CD's adequate for my needs so far, the printed manuals are something else. I feel fortunate to have them for this price.

For grins, here are the webstats for the time that file was available. From the first of December until last night, that particular file accounted for 98% of all the traffic on my web pages.

That's the way I read it...

But, something doesn't make sense to me; that file was approx 100mb and the data downloaded was 1169528kb (1,169,528,000) which, if I understand correctly, is only about 11.5 downloads of the file.

I was looking at that too, I thought maybe I had the decimal a couple places off, didn't use a calculator.

I am sure glad I got it, flipped some pages and it looks great. Thanks again. When the trans has to come out for some reason, it will get a 3rd gear synchro, looks straight-forward. PO said it never had a clutch replacement so it will eventually need one I guess.

Am I right to think that transmission does not have tapered roller bearings in it? It looks like it has all ball bearings.

Yup, ball bearings. BTW, I've never seen an automobile tranny with anything but caged ball bearings. No reason to have anything else in there...no thrust forces.

Good, less to shim. The only automotive transmission I have taken apart was a Peugeot transmission out a Jeep Cherokee. It had tapered roller bearings. I have seen other transmissions apart but don't remember seeing them in any of the others.

It is against the rules to ask a seller to sell an auction item outside the auction, but ...
It is fair game to email a seller and ask if there is a 'buy it now' price. This may be especially useful where a seller is offering a set of manuals individually. Ask for a 'buy it now' price on the set.
