Strut Mount: replace with struts?
Dumb question, folks... (I'll post here even though I have sold my MB diesel and this question regards a 190E as you guys are still my favorite 'Shop forum!)
I am swapping out the struts in my W201. I see the (upper) strut mounts are available separately. Having never done a strut job that used this style mount before, is this a wear part that should be replaced, or can I reuse my old ones? Thanks!!! Chris

Although the Strut Mountings don't wear as quickly as the Struts themselves, it is a good idea to replace them when you fit new struts. Worn mounts can allow movement at the top of the strut which will affect your alignment and steering. They aren't usually very expensive and are straightforward to change with the struts out.
Good Luck.

Much obliged... thanks for the tip! I'll see about getting a pair ordered and swap them out together.
Chris
